Need Help Identifying This W58
This W58 just popped up for sale locally. From searching on the forum, I can only use a W58 from a mk4 Supra or SC300. Can anyone tell me if this is the correct one?
Also, what’s the easiest way to tell?

Looks to be the correct trans, however, that does not appear to be a 2jz bell housing based on the starter location. If the price is good it might be worth it, but keep in mind you'll have to swap the bell housing for something like this:

Someone please correct me if I'm mistaken...

This looks like it is an MKIII W58 just from the one image. The bell-housing is not for a JZ and I see an aluminum rather than steel center sandwich plate (SC300 and MKIV W58's all had steel sandwich plates). Internally they are mostly the same but the MKIII version is noted to not be as strong as the SC/MKIV versions.
A sure way to tell is to look at the bottom of the tailshaft: where the transmission rubber mount goes, are the bolt holes in-line or staggered/diagonal? If in-line it's an MKIII W58. If staggered/diagonal then it's an SC W58.
It's definitely not an MKIV W58 because those cars only ever had tripod shifters. The 92-94 SC's had extension housing (aka "toploader") W58's and the 95-97 SC's switched to the "tripod" W58's that the MKIV NA's always had.
