What cam/crank sub harness are direct swap with 92 SC400
i have done various repairs etc to my stock 92 SC400 cam/crank sensor sub harness and was looking to get an unmolested one from the bone yard. Does anyone know if the 92-2000 years will interchange with each other. These cars are getting harder to find and trying to find a good sub harness on just a 92 severely limits my choices. Also I've read LS400 has similar harness except some differences on left hand side connector. Would like to stick with an SC400 sub harness.

Thanks for the connector part number reference page I'm sure it will be of great use for me.
How common is this harness to fail? I make wire harnesses for atvs, and wouldn't mind working into the automotive world down the road. Biggest fight is finding affordable connectors from the suppliers that Toyota uses instead of though Toyota with the huge price markup.

Not sure Kitabel is aware we were talking about the SC400 which is the 8 cylinder variant of this popular platform and completely different from the harness for the 2JZ. But yes 1uzagoo these harnesses often experience chaffing from serpentine belts rubbing or failing but after 25 years the wires and connectors can become very brittle and I'm sure there would be demand for replacement harnesses. Anyone interested chime in but as time passes with these cars it becomes extremely difficult to find good replacement wire harnesses. Going to the bone yard trying to find a suitable donor is not fun either.

I'll have to add it to the list of harnesses to research (colors, connectors, cost vs resell value etc). I suspect the SC400 and LS400 are the same for that harness, not sure about the GS400 though. I guess a part number would be the best reference for the interchange. I'm somewhat new to the 1UZ engine, I have one, and my dad has one, planning to engine swap both down the road. I've have a fair share of experience with the pickups and 4runners though and the 84-88 era always have harness problems it seems like. Age has a factor on them, but most times it sees like someone got poking around or had fun cutting wires or trying to add extra things in, in a poor way.
Anyway, I tried to find a ebay listing for the harness you're talking about, but looks like none are actively on there right now. Do you happen to have photos of one, main point of interest is the connectors.

Cam/crank sensor sub harness connector part numbers 90980-11196 (6) prong male, 90980-11122 (4) prong male, 90980-11246 (2) prong female, 90980-10843 (2) prong female, 90980-10949 (2) prong female, 90980-10947 (2) prong female, 90980-10887 (2) prong female, plus the crank sensor connector which I don't have the number but is also (2) prong female readily available. I have a chewed up harness minus the crank sensor connector if you want it. I think to replicate it you'll have to remove one in tact it has one I believe 14mm bolt by crank sensor that is several inches long and the only bolt you have to remove. The LS400 is very similar but different enough that they don't interchange, I tried it. I hope this helps you.

Yea that's good info, and the chewed up harness would be good to base the lengths on. I can use known lengths to measure the crank sensor wire length in photos. I'll shoot ya a PM.
