Flashing OD Off Light
Does any body have experience with this. I have a '92 SC400 that is a solid car. No mods, completely refurbished and all original. 280K miles I get a flashing OD off light and the OD is really on. When I hammer down, the light goes off. Ideas anybody? I'm getting ready to cross country in two months. Any help really appreciated.

I have a 95 sc300 that has the flashing OD light. I pulled the code and it related to VSS#2 (code 61 if I remember correctly). My cruise control works fine and I can switch OD on or off and notice the difference. Also, the light sometimes turns off on its own.
I purchased a replacement part but haven't gotten around to actually installing it yet. (I'm not 100% certain where it actually plugs into the transmission, or if I got the right part for that matter).
For your situation, you'll need to refer to the how to posts for instructions on pulling the code.
From what I've read, it most likely will be one of the following issues:
The VSS (#1 or #2),
Shift solenoids,
The ECU.
If the issue is one of the VSS, then it doesn't really hurt anything, but if the issue is with the ECU, it's pretty common for the cruise control to not work and the check engine light to come on as well.
I'm not an expert by any means so I could be wrong, but start with pulling the code(s) to see where to begin tackling your issue.
Good luck.
