In need of advice. What are the options for gaining power out of an 1jz-fe Vvti?
I have a question thad i just cannot fiend in former posts.
I was searching the web for turbo/super charging an 1uz-vvti.
My question: is it worth the trouble and money?
Found some information from the older sc`s thad an 1uz-fe can handle up to 5/600hp to the crank.after doing a lot of modifiing.
Is this the same story for the vvti?
If so, i see no point of doing it.
I would rather replace the 1uz-fe vvti for an ls/lsx or an 2j single turbo. both with 6 speed manual transmission.
I hope people can help me gettin some information.

The vvti versions of the 1uz has weaker bottom end components, rods etc...
They will not handle the power like the older 1uz can (89-95).
maybe you can get away with like 5 psi of boost but that is really nothing to be happy about.
I would not build a 1uz vvti, only intake and exhaust pretty much.
I would do a 2jzgte swap if I was you. even if you go to an older 1uz, you will have to fabricate the turbo parts or buy expensive supercharger parts.
on a 2jzgte you can just buy and bolt stuff on to reach that power.

Before I went crazy with the 2jzgte cars, I did a lot of research about the 1UZ platform. I always wanted to have a twin turbo SC400 . The choices of aftermarket parts is very limited which is the reason for the costs . And yet at the end of the day , after spending a lot , the power you get is not as much as a 2jzgte can provide . I don't know of any JDM engine made in the early part of the 90's that can give you 900rwhp with just bolt ons.
As Ali had said.. go for the JZ platform for cost effective power if I were to be asked.
