Default ??? about 1jz swap

So I have a a 92 SC400 and I want to do a 1jz swap and 5speed swap. But my question is what tranny can I use? Can the R154 tanny be used? And would I have to swap out the bell housings?? I have been trying to look this stuff up but can't seem to find it. Someone please help

Buy a 1jz and r154 together from a supra or preferably a soarer.

That's best advise, get the 1J w/ R154, cheapest overall and that trans will handle your future power upgrades. Soarer is much easier on the wiring end. Find yourself a MarkIII driveshaft, you'll need the front 1/2.

If you get the tripod style shifter r154 you will need to cut out where it comes through the tunnel to fit. You will have to make something for the rubber boot to fit over your new shifter assembly. I am not sure if this applies to the extended aluminum type shifters just my experience.
