Changed Fuel Pump Car started but now Dead again
Hey guys maybe someone can give me some advice.I have a 92 SC300 which was bought (by my neighbor, now I own it) in 1991 brand new and has never EVER broken down until recently.Car died for the first time while driving and wouldn't start. Had it towed to my house.Sat for a week and I tried to start it and it ran for about 30 seconds then died and wouldn't start. It really feels like its not getting fuel so I assumed it was the fuel pump so I changed the fuel pump today and bam it started.Left the car running for about 10 minutes and then it died and wont start. It cranks and battery is good but just wont start. Any ideas on would the culprit could be? Any advice would help me greatly.I love this car.
thanks

Thanks for the reply. I don't remember seeing a check engine light when I got it running. The weird thing is that I know that if I let it sit a few days that it will start and run for a few minutes. That's the thing I don't get. When it dies start I can give it gas and everything but it will eventually die. Would a car start sometimes with a bad ECU?

I car will do crazy things with a bad ECU. We're talking about the Fuel pump ECU. This sounds like a case where the 12v mod might correct the issue. Here is the DIY.

Yep, I had the same thing happen. Thought it was the fuel pump so I changed mine out. A few blocks later the engine stayed idle but the car wouldn't move (5spd). I did the fuel pump ECU mod and it repaired everything. Been driving for 2 straight years without an issue.
