Default Who wants to play a game?

Called where the hell am I leaking from now?

It seems like I can't catch a break with this car. Its just bleeding out . I don't what I'm leaking or where its coming from but the valve cover is bone dry. When it rains it pours.

Any help would be great. Seriously hating life right now.

That water pump is brand new and I degreased the engine bay after I did the valve cover gaskets, timing belt, drive belt, water pump, hydraulic tensioner and radiator. I have no idea whats soaking down the inside of my engine bay and why the water pump and side of the timing belt cover is covered in grime. This is seriously annoying. I feel like I'm making no headway on this thing at all

you are getting there, I normally do valve cover gaskets and distributor o-ring at around the same time, they both tend to fry up with age and leak out. If the metal plate under the distributor is soaked with oil, its usually the o-ring. could also be a cam seal in that area but hard to tell from pics.

i believe there are two plugs on the back of the engine by the firewall. I do not know what they are called but an easy fix.

There UV additives you can buy. Basically pour the bottle of the UV dye into the oil, drive it for a bit and use a black light at night. It'll glow. Depending how much leaks out, too much may just make everything glow lol but it'll still help trace closer to the leak.

Yep, usually on the shelf where all the A/C stuff at. Because te dye can be used in the AC system to find leaks as well.

How hard are the cam seals to do? Obviously I'll have to buy another gasket kit since I'll have to take the valve cover a d Y pipe off for a second time. I'm almost tempted just to swamp the ****er because honestly its showing signs of a leak down below also around the oil pan. This is why I feel like I can't win with this car. Years and years of neglect.

The cam seal isnt bad to do but like you said you have to remove the covers and the timing components. Sounds like you also have to replace your front main seal and probably your rear main seal as well.

Man that sucks! I just took it apart less than three weeks ago ugh!

What are the odds its the cam seals though? I mean I didn't change the O ring for the distributor and it seems like its more wet there than anything else

Try the distributor o-ring first, its a really common problem and easiest to fix.

just a matter of pulling it out popping the new o ring in and then re-timing right?

yes pretty much, the only way to really know is to clean it down and try and find the leak but all the common ones have been listed. also if you take the top cam cover off you should be able to see if there is a mess in there or not.
