Default weird battery problem

Trying to come to a conclusion of what my problem could be. What's happening right now is that when I go for a drive my voltage on the battery fluctuates. It will go from 14.1v all the way down to 10.5v. This happened while on the road from Austin to Arlington. Thankfully I made it back without being stuck on the road. The car cranks fine and doesn't show any drainage in the battery. I got the battery checked and was told that it's fully charged. However as soon as I put the battery back on the car it reads 10.8v while idling. So my thoughts are that it's the alternator is going out or the voltage regulator. Anyone had similar issues or any input? Also the other day the car had a voltage spike where it shot up to 16+ volts. That's what kinda make me think the voltage regulator

It did. Found the problem it was the alternator. It was bad. Sucks was only 7 months old but was covered so no worries.
