block is the same, aside from a potentially different size hole for the VVTI supply line... the pistons and rods are very different - the vvti pistons and rods are very weak in comparison to the non-vvti stuff...
mitsuguy is correct, 2jzge vvti rods are thinner and weaker, most don't exceed 3-400hp on these blocks for this reason. If you plan to do that you will be limited to lower boost levels. you really should find a non vvti ge block, or a 2jzgte block.
