Sorry I ask the question in another thread but did not get a response. How do you bleed the traction control. I know where the bleed nipple is but I'm not sure how to activate the traction control? Anyone know?

probably no one mentioned it because it can be a bit dangerous without a lift.
may have to look in the manual but it has something to do with lifting the rear wheel or wheels off the ground, and that makes it think its slipping and activated the trac or something like that, never done it but have looked into the procedure before back when I had an SC with trac.

iirc, it is relatively simple, no lift, but requires bleeding of the ABS at the same time, looked through the procedure in the FSM to assess whether I wanted to tackle the job... Since i needed the TRAC high pressure line replaced, I just let the dealer do it all. I'll copy the procedure from the FSM and post up tomorrow.

Here's the instruction in the FSM:

1. BLEED TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM
CAUTION:
The fluid is under high pressure, and could spray out with
great force, so exercise caution.
When repairing the brake master cylinder or TRAC
system, bleed the air out of the TRAC system.

(a) Connect a vinyl tube to the bleeder plug of accumulator, then
loosen the bleeder plug. {this is the bleed plug on the driver’s side of the engine compartment, red cap pointing straight up, near the master cylinder / brake booster}

(b) Start the engine to allow the TRAC pump motor to operate
until all the air has been bled out of the fluid.

(c) Tighten the bleeder plug and stop the engine.
Torque: 8.3 Nm (85 kgfcm, 74 in.lbf)

(d) Connect a vinyl tube to the bleeder plug of the TRAC
actuator, then loosen the bleeder plug. {this is the bleed plug on the passenger side of the engine compartment, red cap pointing up at an angle}

(e) Start the engine to allow the TRAC pump motor to operate
until all the air has been bled out of the fluid.

(f) Tighten the bleeder plug and stop the engine.
Torque: 8.3 Nm (85 kgfcm, 74 in.lbf)

(g) Check if any diagnostic trouble code is output which indicates
trouble. If there is, clear the diagnostic trouble code.

2. CHECK FLUID LEVEL IN RESERVOIR
Check the fluid level and add fluid if necessary.
Fluid: SAE J1703 or FMVSS NO.116 DOT3
HINT: Add fluid with the engine idling.

10thMtnLex, nice try but I'll give you a hint. to fully do the bleed you want to bleed 2 parts, the accumulator and the actuator. and the part where it says "Start the engine to allow the TRAC pump motor to operate" is a bit misleading because that only bleeds the actuator, and typically you need to do the one that requires activating the trac pump/accumulator.

If you actually tried to do it, you would discover it would not bleed fully until you do the 2nd part and lift the rear wheels off the ground and hit the gas like that other guy mentioned. Alot of times it won't be done correctly, but the really good toyota lexus guys know you have to actuate the trac to properly bleed the system. read below post #8.
