I'm about to fork over for a ls6 swap on my 95 sc400. I really cant find any info on the rear end on these cars and if it will be able to take the heat. going 6 speed manual. with T56 trans. just bought the whole thing for 4 grand with 12k on it. going to cost me 5k for install from my friend who is a serious rod builder and has done two ls1 swaps on supra turbos here in Hawaii but he didn't know about the rear on the SC so asked me to research . any info would be great.. do i have to get the LSD rear end for this swap.?

For a stock LS6 you will be fine, although an LSD is still a great advantage over the open diff. Ive been beating on my LS1/t56 for a while now and no issues, but we will see what happens when the cam goes in. Although I enjoy the 4.27 rear ratio, I think a MK4 TT diff will be instore soon.

But to clarify, you should be ok for around 450rwhp on the stock diff...possibly more, but I would change the diff bushings, especially if your going to use the 1-piece f-body driveshaft.

And $5k seems kind of high in my opinion...the LSx swap into an SC is easy. Do the swap yourself, put the $5k into a diff/cam/tune/etc...just a thought.

Thank you man.! That is just what i needed to know.

Well He is putting a cam in it. and he is going to give the tune. this guys shop is insane. he has all the software for the tune. and he is fabing a custom header and exhaust along with the install. and to send the wire harness so all my controls work in the car is like 700 he said. he quoted me 4 grand but i am guessing 5 with all the tweaks. Should be 500+hp. so I'll beat the rear end up and see if she handles. and if not then I'll get the LSD ..

I'd love to have the time to try do it myself but i would need help.. lol. give me a sport bike and I'll do anything to it.. but a car.. ugg not me. I'm lost when it comes to an install like that..

Thank you again for the info. I'll do a thread on the build soon to come.. I'm excited.!!

I guess with a cam install and tune, plus all the details, $5k isnt bad. Sounds like your on your way to a good build. If you have any questions about the swap, there are a few of us LSx swapped guys here than can help with info.

Looking forward to the build.
