Default 93 SC400 using coolant in overflow tank

I have a 1993 with around 150k miles. At first, the radiator overflow tank was leaking, so I replaced it. Now, there are no visual leaks at all, yet the coolant in the overflow tank is being used, as in it dissapears daily. Has anyone experienced this issue?

Thank you!

Early in the morning, on a level surface, open the radiator cap and fill all the way to the top and fill the reservior. If you are still losing coolant, i would get it pressure tested.

I am having the same problem!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I had some work done ( new expansion tank and power steering pump and hoses) and a flush was done from the green stuff back to the red..... seems like a mistake because now im putting in coolant daily.

I know there is going to be a lot of suggestions, but in my experience I would always tell my customers to do a full radiator flush with a flush kit. It can be purchased at any auto stores. It does require you to splice between your heater hose.

In simple terms, when your system heats up, it builds pressure. It may overflow into your reservoir. When your system cools down, it create vacuum which will pull anti-freeze from the reservoir. Some time all this expansion and contraction can cause air trap in your system.

You can find DIY full radiator flush all over the internet. And replace your "Radiator Cap" while your at it.

You should always take the least resistant path before tackling the other unnecessary tests.

I think I am on hot trail ....
95'SC400

Observation:
The front of the engine has dried up Toyota-red coolant ,,, sprayed all over.
Radiator cap rubber seems dried up and due to recent checking (this may be your case too) it has a fine nick. So as long as the cap was not removed, things were fine, but extraction and insertion messed it up.

So I ordered a replacement cap and still see a loss in level

I got a coolant pressure tester on loan from AutoZone. That thing has a larger test cap and the only adapter that it came with is to test the radiator cap. So I put the new cap on it and it leaked at 6psi.

At this time I am waiting for a replacement cap and yet to do a pressure test of the radiator. Glad it is summer time and I dont have to keep loosing toyo-red and getting it all over the engine.

Question: How long is the overflow hose in your SC? I see mine routed next to the radiator frame, through a loose ring and it terminates there. It does not extend through the bottom engine splash guard. So the overflow past the radiator cap (broken) gets spewed at the front of the engine. [Nasty stuff and I like the bay clean].
