Exhaust leak help.
1999 Lexus Sc300.
-4 inch exhaust, single pipe, from the resonator back.
I had it installed at a shop, wasn't sure if it would fit. I told them to install it only if it would fit properly. I took it for an oil change and was able to get under it to inspect it.
Where the resonator meets the new pipe, im guessing its 2.5in resonator outlet to a 4 inch pipe, not ideal sizing, there is a leak at the top of it. You can feel it with your hand, but you cannot hear it while idling or driving.
I spoke to the shop and they are going to fix it, just wondering what the options are. Right now it has a real nice throaty/deep/low growl to it. Would removing the resonator make it a lot more whiny or unbearably loud?
Any info is appreciated.
Only crappy picture I have. Bottom right corner is where the leak is

why is there a 4" exhaust connected to a 2.5" resonator? loose the smaller resonator already.
there is no point to 4" piping it you have a 2.5" bottle neck. you would need like 3 step down adapters to weld that thing without leaking. they will put welds on welds, and one day it will crack. make it all the same size, and weld in a high flow cat if you have to. just my 2 cents.

I like the sound of it now...how different will it be without the resonator?
