Brass radiator SC400: Prestone or Toyota Red?
Three years back my radiator blew and I replaced it with an all metal radiator (i believe CRD brand, its now sold as "PRO" on rockauto. I did the timingbelt/waterpump job a year ago, but am having to do it again because the o ring i used (a "HELP" o ring from the local parts) detoriated and was leaking. I used Prestone with that radiator swap and after the timing belt job and the temp seemed normal. I don't believe the Toyota Red HOAT was ever used factory with a brass/copper radiator like I have in my sc400 and I assume the Prestone Extended Life OAT is designed with brass radiators in mind. I have a brass radiator, with an aluminum engine and heater core, quite opposite of whats normal. What do you think community?

I don't think it will matter what coolant is used. One nice thing about the red Toyota coolant is that it boogers up with small leaks. Kind of like BMW blue coolant. but if a high mileage car comes through the door and someone already changed to green I will just continue with the green. But...I kind of frown upon the mechanic that cheaped out and did it in the first place. My car has red, and always will though. Hope that helps.

+1 on the Toyota Red. It still has what it needs in it for rust and freeze prevention. Another great thing about it is that it doesn't change color when you use Red Line Water Wetter.
