350Z trans adapter?
more than one way to skin a cat, the first way isnt always the best way. plus what im trying to put together will make the shifter line up in stock location no different than the a r154 or w58.

No nothing like that, Looking to use the tremec shifter and socket. This will possibly move the shifter into a stock location and will eliminate the shifter extension. More details to come later.
Wasn't my idea but will be testing it out her soon hopefully.

both w58's fit the sc300, the shorter one has a bent shifter which makes up the extra space and has an angle to it, the longer remote shifter one has a shifter that goes literally straight up with no bends and looks sort of like the 350z setup but much shorter.
they both end up with the shifter in about the same place the angle and feel is a little different.

i am still looking for a good solution for shifter positioning.
i am writing a howto for installing the collins kit onto a 1jz though, will make a seperate post with that in the next few days. hope to make a nice concise couple page doc for people.

can kinda tell here. look at the rubber boot going into the transmission, the black cover is a bit forward of where the shifter ideally is.
cheers

it seems like if you were to swap over the 2wd Xterra shifter that goes into that black plate it would come up in a better spot with a slightly bent shifter.. or is it just me imagining things again? so Its either an inspection cover or some nissan shifter setup should bolt right up to it.
I just can't seem to find a picture of an Xterra shifter housing other than the diagrams.
doesn't it look like it would bolt there, scroll down to the v6 version

its that or try to somehow incorporate your rear abs(which doesnt have a vss... OB1 at least) with a abs speed sensor signal and hard wire it to your speed sensor plug on your harness.
orrrr a driveshaft speed sensor but i dont know how that would tie into a oem gauge....
Shifter issue solved for those who are not cheap pick up a sikky shifter. You will need to design a base to mount the tremec shifter too and install the t56 shifter socket and bushing. Other than that you will get that extra four inches needed to line up perfectly. Cost is $499
