Default 1JZ auto ecu to manual ecu, auto harness

I know the plugs are the same between the two ECUs, im just curious if there are any issues using a 1JZ manual ecu with the auto wiring harness that came with my engine. Car is a manual car running the auto harness, no issues with it running-wise, just looking for a spare ECU to carry around in case im stuck somewhere.

Not at all, I am running the same auto ECU on a 1jz w/ R154.

Just wire up the Park/Neutral Switch to your clutch pedal and you are set.

i already have my wiring setup for my auto ECU so my park/neutral switch. I just need a spare ECU while i figure out what's wrong with the A/C on my current ECU (A/C compressor isn't getting grounded at the ECU so no A/C)

as for the shift indicator plug, no that does not need to be wired. Just as long as the ECU sees that the car is in neutral either through a switch or a direct wire to the NSW pin on the ECU and you're set (need to dig up my 1JZ wiring diagrams to confirm)

Hello and welcome to CL! This thread is from 2012 and I haven't seen StiCk3 active here for several years now. However there should be several active forum members with 1JZ-GTE Auto to Manual swaps of their own who may be able to comment.

Is your 1JZ swap getting set up to run the automatic ECU or a manual ECU? And do you have a 1JZ-GTE Non-VVT-i or VVT-i engine?

I’m not working from experience with VVT-i swaps but you may want to consider the last post in this thread regarding manual swaps on 98-00 SC300’s and 98-00 SC400’s:

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/per...t-issue-6.html

A particular device is mentioned which helps with ECUs expecting various signals for automatic transmissions.

That being said I think some more research will be needed on your part to see what other people did with their 1JZGTE VVT-i Auto to manual conversions while still using their VVT-i Auto ECUs.
