Default guess who's car is still down...dies when in gear

As the title says, it seems to start up fine, idled strong but dies after its shifted into reverse or drive. it'll shudder the rpms drop and it dies. If I let it idle in drive for 10 or so minutes then shift to reverse it'll shudder, drop to 200 or so rpm 's then bounce up to normal then back down. after 20 minutes of idling in drive it'll shift normally into gear, but after say backing out of the garage then putting it back into park the rpms drop and it dies. the starts were initially hard and cranking the car a few times made the garage REEK of gasoline, but now after no attempts at starting it since last Thursday it fires right up.

if it was a fuel wash issue and I needed new rings it wouldn't start right? I'm thinking injector, or fuel pressure regulator. I kinda ruled out torque converter solenoid because after idling in drive long enough I can leave it in reverse or drive with my foot on the brake and it won't attempt to stall till put back into park... every tq converter lock I've seen immediately kills the car and doesn't smell like raw fuel. any other ideas? I'm at a bit of a disadvantage due to the car being at my buddies shop 600 miles away, so ima just have to throw parts at it till it runs like every other damn sc in the world because I refuse to give up and sell it
