Transmission Question
Hello all,
I've searched before posting, but didn't find anything similar...
A few weeks ago my transmission had an issue where it didn't seem to want to go into gear from stop lights. It started after a two hour trip (the end of the trip), I was able to drive the car back home and did a service the next day (filter, bottle of Lucas Transmission Fix, and topped off with Castrol Import Multi-vehicle ATF). After warming up, then driving around for about 15 minutes, the tranny seemed fine. I was relieved...then a few days ago I had to make a 9 hour round trip drive, did fine, but this morning, after sitting overnight, it was not wanting to shift out of first gear...did ok after a few minutes, but something is definitely not right.
The car has ~178,000 miles, the fluid that I removed when I took the pan off was dark red, not bright red...I am wondering if I drain the pan and refill with more Castrol, repeat again after another week, might this solve the issues? There were no metal shaving in the pan/on the magnets. IDK. Again, after searching, I see it could also be the torque converter, but my thinking is if that's what it was, the tranny service wouldn't have corrected it, even for a short period...
Any input is appreciated.
