Question Transmission

Howdy from Austin Texas....
I am having issues with my LS400. I recently changed out the tranny filter and little by little she would still have a hard shift during the first 20 minutes of driving. After that it was all good!

Then she started shifting hard longer, in to 2nd. So I checked the fluid level...it was low. I filled it again with ATF +4 as suggested by the auto parts store. Dipstick says Type II.

Still acting funny and today I dropped the transmission again and checked to see if there were any signs of craziness. Nope...nothing, other than some small seperation in the pan. Kind of looked like oil and water but not.

So, now I am thinking of flushing out the system and replacing it with the "right" fluid...what is that by the way?

My question is: Which one is the inny and which is the outty on the transmission filter cooler????? I have two lines coming from the transmission...one is 3/8" and the other is not. HELP

They are both level at the bottom of the radiator.

Next...is it really going to hurt the transmission if I flush all of the fluid out...not power, just natural using the transmission oil cooler pump?

Thanks for everything!

just to make sure, the fluid you need WILL NOT be available at your local auto parts store. What you need is TOYOTA TYPE - IV trans fluid, available only at your local lexus or toyota dealer.

the line on the right facing the front of the car when you are underneath is the fluid coming out of the tranny and going through the cooler in the radiator.
