Default am i crazy, or do i need another starter??

so finally finally got a w58 flywheel(go me). it looks to be the right one and fits up. but testing the starter, i noticed the starter teeth are about a inch behind the teeth..(these pics suck)

so do i need a 5spd starter?? or when i crank it over will the starter teeth slide forward to make contact with the flywheel teeth??

i have done a clutch job on my rb before but iam an old man and i don't remember if the starter touched when i put it back together or not.

on and the starter in question is the 1jz auto tranny unit.

It looks like the correct fit. The starter will engage and and apply itself to the teeth of the flywheel and then go back in. JMO.

Like they said above but throwing in my 2 cents. It would be no bueno to have the starter touching at all times because it will be added force to spin the starter and it would wear out the brushes on the starter too.
