Ok check the sending unit wire on the old ge from the connector to the body plug and make sure the same wire on your 1jz is at the same location and check to make sure the wire in not broken in the wiring harness.

okay. What you wanna do is find the 1 wire temp sensor on the waterneck. This wire needs to be sent uninterrupted, THAT MEANS NO SPLICES, NOTHING, ALL THE WAY TO PLUG IK1, PIN 9.
After you've got that done, you wanna find your IK2 plug. You'll wanna locate pin 24. This pin goes into the engine bay through the engine harness and grounds to the intake. This is the ground reference for the cluster, and in factory form also is the ground reference for the oil level light as well.
If you removed this wire you'll want to run one to ground on the engine harness side of IK2. There, it's seriously that simple. This is for obd1 as I can't confirm the pinout for obd2 because I haven't done one/don't have the diagrams. BTW, this is all via lexus sc EWD, section combination meter.

here's IK1. Looking at it from this view, the pins read left to right, like a book, starting top left.
Here it is from the back with my finger pointing to pin 9
And here's IK2. read the pins the same way. You'll wanna make sure you have a pin in pin 24, or put one there, and then ground it. If it doesn't already have continuity to ground if the pin is existing in your plug, it needs to do so. If not, then your wiring probably needs review in other places seeing as this was not correct. Good luck.
