Default RPM Help 98+ cluster w pics

So I decided to try and get the RPM's working today. Ive read up on some other threads but my cluster looks completely different from the back as you can see below. The 3rd pic is the RPM side with the big orange plug.

I don't see the R109 resister, I see some under the green outter layer but they look different. Anyone think they can guide me in the rite direction, meanwhile I'm going to try and figure out which wire on the orange plug is the RPM/Ignitor signal, theres one bigger yellow wire I'll start there.

Help lol

*Didn't get very far, really hate New England and its weather

But I noticed Tweak never put a wire in for E10 pin 16(Taco) on the JDM connector so I put one in and reads 4.8-5volts when Idle.

Then I started testing wires that went to the dash that arent being used starting with the most obv ones blk/wh and also wh/blk and a few others but could not get the Tac to move..

When weather is warmer or less windy I'll try some more unless anyone else has a clue to which color the dash RPM wire is, or what pin # on the orange 23pin cluster plug to use

98-00 SC300 to GTE shouldn't need a resistor mod because they already use a DIS igniter.

Yeah, that looks completey different from mine. But, I also have a 5spd from a 92'.

Account2 has a point tho, Im not sure if you still need to jump the R109

Note, after I jumped the R109 this didnt work for me. It also burnt half of my right side lights out.

Geeze you must of grounded something out, at least on the new cluster all the bulbs are super easy theres just a bunch of screw caps on the back holding them in.

I also tried tracing the ignitor wires back from my original harness in my basement but they all seem to go to the ecu, so I'm not sure what color wire im looking for on the 23pin cluster plug.

I have a 99cluster in my 95. To get my tach to run i ran a wire from the ignitor directly to the cluster. If you search my posts on the clusters you should be able to find the answer.

Pin 9D on the cluster. Should be light green, and come from IK1 pin 8.

Thanks StockHatch ya thats the wire I ended up going with today I found it on the 2nd schematic for 99sc3 on this page https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sc-...6-sc300-3.html But I got nothing, then I figured the ground next to it (pin 10 on schematic) needed to be grounded for it to work, did it and still got nothing

Anyone know what the voltage around idle should be e10 pin 16 aristo is reading about 5volts and goes directly to the light green wire...

My guess is the "TACO" pin is for Chaser dash or what not and 5volts maybe to low..

Anyone know the voltage at idle that the Ignitor directly puts out from the black wire?

I'm sure its a pulse from the igniter, and you may not see anything depending on the instrument used. I would run a wire directly from the igniter. Or have you already traced it all the way back to the igniter?

I think it is pin 1 on the small igniter connector. It was a small gauge black wire iirc. I ended up running a wire on mine all the way to the igniter to get mine working.

I tried the taco pin on the ecu before I ran the wire to the igniter, and it did nothing for me either.

Heres a few pics of the cluster also my pup wanted his pic taken
