Default MAF Questions

Are obd1 SC300 and SC400 MAF's compatible/interchangeable? Also, I've been having misfire issues only at idle (changed plugs and have correct gap, wires, cap, rotor and ignition coil) with my 92 SC300 and can't seem to figure it out. After installing the new wires with no change I decided to unplug the MAF to see if it'd change anything and it didn't.

If you unplug the MAF out of an SC300 shouldn't that change the way the car runs? Or does it mean my MAF is dead and in need of replacing?
