2jz-gte swap questions
Hey I've been doing lots of research and was wondering if anyone could help me out with a few things i can't seem to find. I have a 99 SC300 and the stock motor has a valve tick so i want to swap it. I was looking at going Non VVT-i because i didn't want to have to worry about extra problems.
Will i have any issues going from OBDII to OBDI? is it recommended to keep it VVT-i and stay OBDII?
Also I was wondering about the Maf sensor. I have a USDM 6 speed maf. Will that work if i get a JDM Auto engine? Does the maf need to match the ECU? should i try to find a engine that comes with the maf or can i make mine work?
I plan on keeping the car pretty much stock. So i'd like to run stock ecu with a maf. i didn't want to run a piggy back. but again im just learning. I've dealt with issues with my Sr20det 240sx with the maf and spent lots of time and money making it run properly. i had a z32 maf and had to get a piggy back to run right so i just want to make sure i get the proper Maf for the 2jz-gte.
Any help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot,
Jesse

no issues if you swap over
OBDI is alot easier for modding
VVT-I has weaker internals
JDM Setups do not need maf sensors they only tune with the map sensor
***there are no plugins for a maf sensor on a JDM 2jzgte
For what you seem to be doing i'd say go with jdm vvt-i.

Jdm VVTi is the new thing all the supra guys are doing now. Ive been doing 2 years of research on your post subject and I have tons of questions. if you search posts on this forum there is tons of info on the swap.

Damn bro where do get those false info from ???
You are in FL no emissions laws right that's what is was told
If that the case i would get the non VVTi because if you got since turbo you don't have to worry about finding an EMS that can control the VVTi and not everybody can tune it.
But you can always delete the VVTI if you wanna with an EMS that can't control the VVTi.
And the good thing is you can all kind of aftermarket parts for the non VVTi on here and SF.
Gl and here are some infos about the VVTi and non VVTi.
Oh yeah the VVTi uses both map and maf.
