well it was bound to happen, the 1JZ loves the high rpms too much for a reg clutch. heard a loud knock, i immediately pressed down the clutch pedal and coasted to a parking space. now the shifter can be moved in a circle without the pedal pressed in...saaaad. so now its stuck in some gear and dead in the water.

yeah it was stock, I'm looking at these for the replacement but I need to make a decision fast as I've got school and work to drive to and my ride is dead in the water with no rudder or sail.

I have my eye on SouthBend OFE and DXD models. I just need to verify torque capacity..I have a feeling it's kinda low though.
The Horsepowerfreaks full face feramic with the ACT heavy duty pressure plate seems pretty badass too, but it's like $900!! It's also rated at 700whp(i know of someone running this clutch at 800+ whp through a R154 and he loves it)
The ACT HDG6 looks good too with a slight increase in pedal/thrust bearing pressure and its rated at 518ft lbs.
*I'd avoid the RPS max and ACT xtreme due to them blasting out thrust bearings and causing crankwalk(if you didnt already know this)

I think it's the clutch because before this happened I would be in 3rd or 4th or 5th gear and anything past a little bit of throttle...the engine would rev up but there was no acceleration. I've asked my performance shop and on here and all say it's the clutch, I hope they're right.

That is a little odd. IF it went 'bang' then you were able to depress the clutch(this means the clutch assembly is still functional, but it doesn't mean there's any meat left on the disc.)
Doesn't explain the 'bang' though? Wonder if you broke the pressure plate or clutch disc itself. Oh well you wont know until you take it apart. At that point you can make sure your trans can go through the gears.
Damn man, I can't believe I put in a new stock R154 clutch set!!! Now I gotta drop the trans to make any decent amount of power!! grrr.rr
