Default Auto trans not kicking down

I bought an Aristo swapped '97 SC300, and the trans never kicks down. I am going to put an R154 in, but I figured I might as well try and fix this until then. It is supposed to have the Aristo Auto Transmission, but I may have been scammed and it is the stock transmission. Any ideas?

There's a kickdown cable, which looks alot like a throttle cable, usually attaches to the throttle body, and routes back towards the transmission.

It could have either not been installed, is out of adjustment, or is loose at either the throttle body, or inside the transmission (which would involve dropping the transmission pan to re-install), or even worse, broke during install. I've seen them break numerous times.

Making sure that cable is intact or at least appears functional would be your best bet for starters.

Any ideas on where to source a transmission throttle cable? The one on my 93 SC4 is functional, but the plastic housing at its base is partialy split. Part is discontinued and unavailable through Lexus and searches on eBay and salvage yard networks has been fruitless.
