Thank you OP!
I opted to remove the tail light error bulb rather that the pin #4 trick. I replaced all of my tail light bulbs with red LED's and they didn't have the built in resistors so they threw error codes. Thank you!!! Straight forward DIY, helped me get rid of that pesky dash light. Yae for poor man's LED tails, lol. Now to shave the inners with no repercussions
edit: just noticed this was an sc thread. Thanks for helping out a 2gs owner!

Has anyone figured out how to change the color of the OD/Time LCD Displays?
I got the cover off and it makes it a nice Mint color but i really would like it a Red or Blue to match!
Thanks

I didn't want to start a new thread since this one pertains to the instrument cluster lighting. I just bought my SC400 a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that the gauge lights come on and stays on while the car is running even though the light switch is not on. So when I'm driving in the day time, the instrument cluster is lit up. Is this normal or is this a sign of a bad cluster? Also, does the needle illumination come from the little bulbs in the instrument cluster or are they illuminated separately?
Thanks in advance!
Thanks in advance!

^^^ it could be your lil eye sensor on the dash that handles the auto light function..
The needles are illuminated by a tiny bulb in the gauge/needle shaft & are incandescent.. to DIY, you'd have to put a row of surface mount diodes (microscopic damn near) on the needle itself.. the series can be powered by the same leads but will need proper resistors to handle the 12V source..
here's a brave man who hooked us up on the gravity of that undertaking..
