im in the same boat as you. i replaced the fuel filter last week and noticed some rusty gasoline come out but the problem still persists. whenever i pour the lucus fuel systems cleaner my car runs a lot better but it will come back after i fill up on gas again. im looking into my maf sensor tomorrow.

PROBLEM SOLVED! i picked up some crc maf sensor cleaner, sprayed my maf carefully and blew it dry with the air hose. after i first started the car it was idling funny but drove smooth. then check engine light came on and would stall in neutral. i took out the ecu fuse and put it back then after that my car drives beautifully! im in love with my car all over again. before it would stutter and hesitate bad. it would feel like a my ex tryn to drive stick for the first time. now its smooth like a lex should be. before that i tryed disconnected my maf sensor like others have said but i would instantly stall in idle and i have 5spd.
