Default Aristo Trans - Manual Mode

I'm in the early stages of swapping a vvt-i Aristo motor and trans into my '98 SC300. Needless to say I've been spending some time staring at the factory Aristo wiring manual and noticed something interesting. One of the ECU pins is labeled for "shift up" and another for "shift down". I searched around and it seems that 2nd gen, JZS161, Aristo's with the gte motor have a manual shift mode with +/- buttons on the steering wheel.

With the growing number of Aristo swaps out there has anyone tried to wire this up and use it? A 2jz-gte powered SC with paddle shifters would be pretty cool
