Default Tune-up advice needed

Looking to do oil change, brakes, plugs and anything else simple you could recommend. I know I will use royal purple oil, but how many quarts? I have LS400 brakes up front and TT Supra in back, what are some good pads without too much brake dust, noise, and not too pricey- I dont drive that hard. What are the best plugs to use and if you know the gap that would be great too?
Thanks for the info!

most plugs are pre-gapped but if not use about 0.044"

for plugs get a stock, platinum, P/N PK20's. thats na plugs. if you ever go NA-T use the TT plugs that are P/N PK16's with about 0.035" gap or depending on setup.

for pads use stock

oil i would go with castrol or mobil1. not a fan of royal purple chit. get 5 quarts. when you do the oil change just follow the regular procedure and add as necessary.

I would run the NGK plugs...but the denso ain't bad either. Mobil1 is good. I woul dnot do the ceramic pads(they were screetched each time I used them.) I would also check the belts and hoses to verify that they look good.

If you do gap the plugs becareful of the elctrodes...not many people remember that when gapping them and f up the plug.

There is no problem at all about switching oils. As for plugs there are no plugs that give you power out of the box. You would need to upgrade the coil, wires, etc. and even then you wouldn't get the extra power. The only time you should upgrade your ignition system is when you are putting more pressure in the combustion chamber (turbo, increased compression, etc. etc.). You might get slightly better gas mileage but it wouldn't be noticeable. NGK plugs, they are the plugs all 2JZ came with from the factory.

The gap on the plugs is .44. Ive always used NGK iridiums. Ive used Royal Purple on the transmission but I didnt really like it. The synchros started grinding shortly after the change and eventually disabled the use of gears up/down 1, down2, up 5, and sometimes reverse. But who knows, it might work well in motors. As for pads, I also have LS400 calipers. I just use ceramic pads for daily driving but if I ever autocross I think I might get some EBC pads since they claim to leave very little dust but grab like champions.

I use and recommend Mobil 1 motor oil.

Im looking to change my trans oil though, ive been using Royal Purple 75w90 and my 1st has been grinding... even when im stopped completely, and have the clutch all the way in. Its periodic, and sometimes wont happen for a whole month.

any suggestions? JSpec, what do you use in your trans?

slight clutch rod adjustment, under the dash at the pedal, may solve your problem.
