Default Spark Plugs Covered With Oil!?!

Hi,

Today I took out my number 6 spark plug on my 2000 gs3 to see if it needed to be changed and there was oil all over it!?! not good. I think it is oil? i just assume it was oil n my friend wipped it off. but when i got home i remember my friend cleaned out my engine bay last time with the pressure water hose. Is it possible that he flooded the spark plugs or is it cuz my piston ring is busted!?

Thanks

which end of the spark plug is covered in oil?? the end that sparks inside the engine, or the end that the spark plug wire/coil pack goes into??

my guess is that you got a fouled plug that didn't fire, and then ended up getting gummed up with oil... replace the plug... see if teh car runs better... and if it gets gummed up again... diagnose from there... it's easiest

Piston rings are one thing, but even having some scuffing on the walls will also do it, allowing oil to seep through. I agree with narfy, cheaper to buy one and replace it and see what occurs, and then come back and let us know if you continue to have issues with it.

replace the spark plug first.. and after driving it for 2 weeks, remove the plug and check on it... if you still have a problem, then look down the cylinder with a borescope to see if you have any cylinder wall scraping... if you do, the head's gotta come off for a hone and re-ring job...
