Default What is your general range for shifting on a w58?

Just wondering what speed range you use for a w58 transmission. I have a 1jz swap and was just wondering the range you all drive it in. I.e. 1st gear - 1-15mph, 2nd gear - 15-25, etc. Is it safe to push 3rd up to 60?

The mph listed in the manual for top speed in each gear, if I remember correctly, is 1st-35, 2nd- 59, 3rd-88, 4th~105-110 i think.

For normal driving I usually shift at around 2000-2500rpm.

97's have the w58 as well. I think the w58 changed slightly in 95, but i think it was just the shifter that changed.

I usually change before boost is about to build, gas saver. Usually between 2500-2800. But when a G or 350z starts harressing me, I let the beast loose.

Ahhh that makes sense, I've been so hesitant to even take 1st up to 20mph in extreme cases and I thought max for 2nd was 40, max for 3rd was 60. I was trying to figure out how I could ever get in the boost range with a t67 turbo when those limits I was using. Thanks for the info!
