Default A few auto tranny questions

Just picked up a 92 SC400 1UZ yesterday, lots of things to fix up, but first of all I need to know how something supposed to work.

So far the tranny (was told to be newly replace) shifts smooth, very smooth, no apparent leak, BUT in-between shift is quite long (~1 sec). ECT button lights up the ECT light in the gauges but doesn't seem to be working as it will shift no matter WOT or light throttle at 2500rpm. I have a 94 V6 Camry 1mzfe and a154e auto tranny and ECT will ensure I get it to redline unless I ease off the throttle at whatever rpm I like.

Is the SC auto tranny supposed to be that way or I should look at something.

Thanks a lot

Also there is a Over shift lock button near the shifter but I can't seem to press it. What does it do?

The shift lock button is to manually override the shifter to take it out of park. Saying if you loose your key and want to move it back and forth. Either it is to smooth for you to tell of there is some kind of electrical issue. If it delays longer then it should you might have a issue with the shift clutch packs inside or the may be a solenoid issue. Check the tranny fluid and see if it is low. Check it in park with the engine running. Low fluid delays shifts. It might be overfilled which could have the same effect. That should help you out. Update when you see whats up >>>

Thanks for that override button, the rest of the shifting stuff will be checked out this weekend though.
