Default a/c question

Yesterday it was a hot day, 100degree, so my car sits outside in the hot sun. I started the car turning the a/c on and windows down, letting the hot air go out. After like 15mins of driving, my a/c blows warm air. Until like 30mins later it start finally getting cold, then after like hour, it actually blow really cold air. Afterwards, i went to the mall for an hour and parked outside. On the way home, it only takes like 15mins to blow cold air again.. Is this a common thing or something bad with my a/c?

btw. I have 95 sc300

that was a pretty common problem in both of my SC's. might want to see if you can get your R12 recharged...or do a R134a retrofit.

Anyone done a retrofit on their r12 '93 or earlier GS? I'm looking at doing it. What parts do I need?

they sell entire kits, but what they consist of is nitrile rubber o-rings/gaskets, PAG oil for your compressor, conversion fittings for the ability to charge R-134. A vacuum pump to remove all non-condensable gasses and to test the system's ability to hold a vacuum will be required, as well as a new dryer/receiver for the refrigerant, and I forget how many pounds of R-134a you need, but you can look that up. If you have all the tools, takes roughly 2 hrs to convert it, not too bad of a job.
