well hopefully this doesn't drive up the cost of the "weak w series" trannies but i just found out that peak performance makes a dogbox gear set for the w series........ no word on price yet but if its not crazy then this is an awesome alternative to the v160-161 and the getting pricer r154.... bottom of the page http://www.peak-performance.net/content/view/220/88/
What's their pricing though? Couldn't seem to find it on the site.

How much power is it supposed to handle with that price point I would go with a V160.

well i think what we need to understand its not so much a hp rating that kills trannies its the shock load and massive torque that kills the synchro's and gears. a dog box does not have synchros so you need to learn how to drive with out them, ie rev matching for downshifts. this is probably one of the most indepth explanations of "dog boxes" vs regular helical gear setups. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=665334
