but if a new bov would help in performance or reliability i'd just upgrade
Don't really consider a BOV a performance upgrade, it's more of a safety mechanism for your turbo. There are alot of drift/performance cars that don't even use BOV's. Their purpose is strickly to release built up pressure from the pipes after the throttle plate closes. By doing this it helps to relieve "surge" on your compressor wheel, or, in other words, it trys to relieve the reverse the flow of air that would put alot of stress on your turbo. Now, if you have big plans in the future and thinking about running some serious cfm with a bigger turbo, then your BOV can become a factor if the stock spring is not large/stout enough to handle pressure, and it will start venting boost the atmosphere before it can hit your TB. So for now, the answer is, will it help performance? I highly doubt. Could it possibly help prolong the life of your turbo? If you plan on pushing it to its max, it very well could. Hope that helps.
