Does my Head need a rebuild?
My car overheated the other day due to low coolant (I know ::hammer:: ) My friend bought some Coolant to try to fill up the radiator. The Radiator ended having a leak. I got the car towed home and tried to refill the radiator again and found out the radiator was leaking all over.
My friend let me have his extra radiator and I replaced my old one. I put some new fluid in then started the car. The car started but it sounded horrible. It sounded like it was an really un-tuned Carb'd car. It turned the car off to find out what it could've been. I couldn't figure it out so I tried starting the car again and it wouldn't. The car would crank but it wouldn't turn over.
a friend of mine checked the car, he topped off the radiator and told me to start the car. A bunch of water came out of the top. He told me the head is F'd!
It's going to run about $1200 to rebuild the head. I just want to know if it's the head for sure that I have to replace or rebuild.

Dont rebuild the head... just pick up a used one and have it cleaned up and checked at your local machine shop (NAPA did both of mine). Cost me $150 which included the cleaning of the valves, cleaning of the entire head and crack/warpage checking. You can find used heads for cheap and they can come from any OBD1 car.
Its some work, but it isnt $1200 , more like $350 including the cost of the used head and other parts

I'm trying to find out why it doesn't start. You have to be able to turn it on to run the compression test.
The motor has about 200k on it, so replacing the head would've been in the future plans anyways.
