Replaced distributer O Ring and lost timing
So I replaced the distributer oring that was causing oil to leak onto my alternator. I thought everything was smooth until I tried to start it, car got about one crank then completely lost power. My obvious guess is that I lost the timing but i don't think it would cause the car to have a complete loss of power would it? I can't even put my windows up and its a brand new battery. Maybe a fuse or a relay. If anybody can give me some advice so I can start trouble shooting I would greatly appreciate it.

try jumping off a running car. its easy to loose the timing when you take the distributor out, its probably off and might start rough but shouldn't kill the battery. sometimes new batteries have been sitting for a while maybe charge it up and try again or jumping it should do the trick, make sure the other car is on and running.

Check your battery connections. Pull them off and clean them.
If it tried to start once, most likely things are good.
Timing will not cause a loss of DC electrical power (assuming that's what you mean).

So I just ran my own ground from the battery to the body. I put the key in and the car had power, the radio and lights came on. I went to turn the car on and it just died as soon as the key turned to start and again lost all power. I moved the ground to another spot and it did the same thing. Moved it to another spot and it didnt get any power again.
