Need help 92 sc400 tranny
OK I have had this car about 8 months. When i bought it the car ahd 144,xxx on it and hte tranny ahd never been flushed. I had it flushed at 148,xxx. My job requires me to drive a lot and latly the tranny had been starting to wine really bad. Every now and then it will slip then be fine. The car has 156,xx on it and im wondering is it worth it to drop a new stock tranny in or do a motor swap. I would really love to have a 5spd and have thoght about doing a 1jz-gte swap. Im asking for any and all opinions on what i should do..
Thanks,
Mike

If you have the resources to do the 1JZ swap, you can turn back the clock on your drivetrain big time and have one hell of a performance engine that is easy to build up deep into the 4XXwhp range.
If you are not looking for big power, your 1UZ at ~150k miles should still have plenty of life left in it if it is healthy. So many 1UZ guys are over 200k miles that it is old news. A newer trans would definitely be the cheapest route.
Summary...
If you want an engine to mod, get the 1JZ. If you are just going to drive the car, go with a new trans.
