Default 2jzGE head on a GTE block?

Im looking to do the 2jzgte swap on my 95 sc300. Im just weiry of getting used jdm motors and I would like to buy a brand new shortblock GTE from toyota direct. They go for ~2000. I was thinking maybe i can just get my stock GE head milled and throw that on the shortblock, but Im trying to figure out of 1, its possible (most likely is) and 2, what are the downsides other than raised compression meaning lower boost levels. I have read mixed reviews on which flow more, I would guess the GTE head flows more but by how much.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

BTW, im planning on going single turbo/pump gas.

thanks!

anything is possible, heres a thread on how to swap a TT head on a GE block http://www.supraforums.com/forum/sho...d.php?t=225971

your compression will actually be lower with a GTE block (the pistons themselves lowers the compression)

rumor has it that the GE head actually flows better

Nobody actually has the proof that the GE flows better.

I believe this debate was taken to a flow bench in a thread on Supraforums.

I recall reading that the GE head flowed more efficiently under a modest CFM load, but the GTE head was superior in that it flows bigger (which is the concern in a high horsepower application).

If I had a GTE bottom end, I would fork over the cashe and get a GTE head too. Heck, I would get a damn clip to have all the accessories and control boxes.

Except for the flowbench results that were posted on SupraForums......

The GTE flowed only barely better on the intake side and horribly worse on the exhaust side (relatively speaking here)

In reality, the GE would flow a large amount of air more on the exhaust side than the GTE since the GTE has angled and smaller exhaust ports (which really hurt the flow).

GTE block swapping is common. The IS guys do it all the time.

hrmm....i may just consider this then......considering that it would only run me ~2000 for a brand new gte block, and since most of the stock gte motor parts i would want to replace anyway for the single setup....this just might be the better route.

I'm looking at doing just that, GE head on GTE block. I will match port the head when the bottom end is done. (looking at going to 3.4L)

Is everything just plug and play? As in....just replace the stock bottom end with the GTE bottom and thats it?

Thats pretty much it. You will have your turbo oil supply on the exhaust side, there are 2 of them and you will have to cap off one. The rest is plug n play.
