Default What is my single 1J setup worth?

Yes the rumors are true , there's a good possibility that I will be going with a 2jzgte. It probably won't be until the winter though. Anway I've been getting some PM's etc and just wanted to see what my setup is worth. Soarer 1j's seem to have gotten very rare. Anyway here is my setup:

Soarer 1jzgte
Soarer 1jzgte 5spd harness
Autosport Patch Harness
Sard ECU(Auto,No boost cut, speed cut, raised rev limiter and retuned fuel)
Stock Soarer Auto ECU
Stock Soarer 5 speed ECU( Currently FS)
JDM Supra 440cc injectors.
New oilpan, New Valve Cover Gaskets, New Drive Belt. New Front and Rear Main Seal.
Polished Valve Covers
Billet Spark Plug Cover from Grip Industries
Chromed OEM Cam Gears
Greddy See through Cam Gear Cover
Polished Precision Turbo (PT 61 w/.68 a/r and vband DP)
Drewgo Manifold(Coated)
Tial 44mm(15.9 psi) wastegate (v-band)
Custom Dumptube(VIP Garage)
Custom Downpipe(VIP Garage)

I have an extra intake manifold that is getting polished that will be thrown in too.

I will also be letting the W58 go. It has HPF 6 puck unsprung clutch.

I will be keeping the fmic setup, all the guages and the uninstalled Soarer R154

I'm just trying to get a ballpark of what it's worth. I asked on SF and the average was between 3 and 4K.

How did the motor run? Considering you can pick up a soarer FC for around 2k, your extra mods would run around 1.5k. It is reasonable to sell for 3-4k like you said.

First off, congratulations on deciding to go with the 2JZ: or at least considering it. The 2JZ is definitely that much more insane than a 1JZ, and -honestly- you owe those extra horses to your car given what you have already invested.

The extras you have put into the engine are great. The turbo is perfectly sized for to maximize power and maintain a really fat power band upwards of 400whp. The injectors, Sard ECU, Tial gate, and 6-puck w58 clutch are huge perks as you can go nuts for the second the engine is installed. Obviously, the Soarer electrical components are a huge plus.

This is the ideal set up for a goal of around 400whp/340wtq. Every component is top notch and fully capable of supporting such power. If I was going 1JZ, I would be willing to pay upwards of $4000 for the set up from engine to tranny to turbo to all the components.

But, if I were you, I would keep everything and sell me the R154. Or, I would go 2JZ w/6 speed and sell me the R154.

i would recommend a dyno and compression numbers to get the highest value on your motor. good luck.

If guys are making up to 800whp on a 1jz why go to a 2jz? For the look I got a 2jz factor? Are you planning on having a 1000whp car? You cam sqeeze out more power out of your 1jz before you sell it. Go on Supra forum in the MK111 section for more info.

From the set ups that I have observed, the 1JZ becomes a dyno/drag engine only above ~500whp. 2JZ guys are doing 500whp on stock twins with the right upgrades, making for a hell of a street racing engine.

If I had a goal over 400whp, I would know that I would be approaching the point of diminishing returns on the 1JZ. Yes, a rebuilt head with a sturdy valvetrain and cams could get you making power to 8500, but with all that money spent to make -say 550whp- the 2JZ is now the cost-friendly option.

The 2JZ head flows bigger, the longer stroke makes more torque, and the displacement yields more power potential than the 1JZ: period.

--------------------
I apologize for getting off topic. This set up is beautiful and worth every penny of $4k in my opinion.

^^ What he said.

non-VVTI 1jz have a poorly-flowing head, restrictive intake mani, and cams arent that great either. While there are people making 700whp+ on stock cams/manifold/head on 2jz-GE setups.

To get the 1jz to make the power, you gotta spend the money; and at that point, the motor isnt so DD-able and makes less power/$ than the 2jz.

He needs to go 6 speed with the 2JZ-GTE so that he can sell you the W58 six puck, and he can sell me the Soarer R154.
