Exclamation What is this?

My coolant leak was shooting out of this. It would stop after a while and then drip overnight. It looks like there is supposed to be some kind of hose hooked up to it but where does it go? This is from my brother's SC. My SC has that little nipple also but how come mine doesnt leak? Here the pics. I better get an explanation. Im about to return the water pump I just bought from Lexus so I can hook up a little hose to the one I have and just route it up to the over flow tank.

I have a sc300 and I don't see that nozzle. I tried to feel for it, but nothing. Here are some pics of mine:

What are you serious? Why does mine have it and yours doesnt. Both my 93 SC (5spd) and my brother's 92 (5spd) have it on those stock pumps. When I got this pump from the dealer I made sure it was for a 92 and even that one has that little nozzle.

What is going on here?

My car used to be an AUTO before I did the 5spd swap. My brothers SC is an original 5speed. Both have it.

Yeah thats what I also checked at the dealer. Until I can get some answers Im just going to route up a hose into the coolant overflow tank.

Hey Roger- When i replaced mine 1 1/2 years ago with an OEM part . The new one came with that nipple too. (My original 1 did NOT have it either.)
I'm not sure if its what you should do? But we capped mine off. And there hasnt been an issue with it.

Thanks Bill. I'll try that and see if it holds the pressure. By the way, how is your car coming along? Are you coming out to BOS 3?

-Take care

Lets just face it. The pump is doneskies. I tried plugging up that nozzle and the coolant began leaking from the pulley area. Its a good thing I bought a replacement pump. I'll be changing it out this weekend.

Nothing wrong with an extra nipple.

Might come in handy somehow.

oh my god guys....

it's the coolant weephole... all water pumps have them, just most don't have the actual nipple like that (most just have a hole)

anyways, when coolant comes out of that, it means the seal in the water pump died and will need replaced...
