Remove front cats?
I recently had a conversation with a guy not of this forum. He told me that due to the vintage, 1993, of my SC400 I could delete my cats and the ECU would still work. He suggested that I first install shorty headers, then remove the cats and then install somthing called a O2 sensor simulator. Now I would never ever delete my cats. More fact there than fiction, but I am curious as to what he was talking about. Would my engine computer "crash" without a sensor input?
Thanks
John

i believe ull have poor gas milage and ur check engine like will go on..
Most headers (racing or testpipe) dont have cats..
edit: forgot to add... Putting the O2 sym will clear up everything.

JohnEd,
I no longer have precats on my OBDII RX300 (bad gas, oveheated precat) and have not had a single issue. I still have a 3 way Magnaflow cat below and pass the Mexico City emissions test without a hitch or CEL (voluntary, but you get some driving benefits if you do it).
Now, if you take out your main cat, you can get a CEL, a P0420, but the O2 simulator should take care of it.
