First of all i have searched the topics, there alot of information on how much the parts for the swaps go for, such as front clips or engine from Jhot and other engine sources, but not alot for how much it acually cost to install.
ive read on the forum that a 2jz-gte will cost around 10000$ to have a 2jz 6-speed swaped in a sc300, but i was wondering how much it will cost to install the engine alone since some of us already have a w58? i know the w58 will not hold power over 400hp, but if i just want to run stock 320hp, i wouldnt need to worry, and even if i make over 400, a r154 is always an alternative.
also, how much does it usually go for to swap a 1jz vvt-i and or a non-vvti engine in a sc300? again this is with the stock w58.
Just out of curiosity, i know for the 1jz, you can have everything functional as stock, but how about a 2jz?
well that doesnt answer my question, i will eventually go up in HP, but all im saying is i think getrag is overkill for the power i want to make, 500 hp is really enough for me already, if people think you HAVE to have 600 or more hp or else you wont be satisfied then i dont knwo what to say, 500 is a mark for me, and ill get a r154 for that later on, right now i want an engine swap more, and i dont want to be stoped just because i cant afford the transmission at the time.
reason why i want do the swap more is because i hae the money now, and if i dont do it now, i know the money will go into stupid stuff such as bodykit, wheels and such.
Please help and let me know how much it would cost to install a 2jz or 1jz vvti engine without the tranny. thanks

No one said you will be unsatisfied with 500hp. We simply said that once you get 320hp from an engine that can add horsepower with relative ease, you are going to do so.
I would have no idea what a swap is going to run you. When I think about stuff like this, I assume that I am going to be doing the labor myself over a few months of a weekends. I would bet a shop would charge you thousands in labor alone.
If I had your current goals (maximizing hp with the stock tranny), I would run an na-t set up by slapping a turbo on your stock engine. Many SC and Supra guys are running this exact set up with 350-400hp at the wheels (400-450 at the crank). With the money you saved from having to do the full swap, you could buy your wheels or your body kit.
ive read on supra pages.. stock supra TT parts can hold 700-800 HP (stock internals) for a quite a bit of time..
if you where to do the motor + tranny swap would you still be able to do what the supra does? or the drive shaft and other parts would need to be changed?
if you do an 2j gte swapped you should be able to invested an extra $600-$1k on an nice tranny(r154). and kept its BPU...tuneing, ecu and fuel mangerment is where its put an hole in everyone pocket!
Isn't there a couple turbo companies that make turbo kits for a GE that don't make as much hp for the same amount of money as other turbo companies for GTE??? So if he would ever want more hp, it would be less amount of work if he just swapped a GTE, he wouldn't have to get custom parts for a big turbo...I think swapping a 1j or 2j will be mare raliable too because they have oil squirters....1j would be way cheaper to swap then a 2j...a soarers front clip go for about $2000-2300 that's what im planning to do but still haven't found a clean front clip...its worth buying a clip because it comes with everything u need and u dont have to be worrying about missing parts
Fallguy ran 9 sec @153 on his stock GE engine (upgraded headgasket). He was running 35lbs of boost and a 75shot of spray most of the season (I think his engine had over 200,000 miles on it too). He was just running a bolt-on kit from DaveH. Believe me, you can get one HELL of a turbo kit for the $6000-9000 you would spend to swap a gte engine in.
