the gs400 is not a fast car now the gs430 is a different story ,but why will you waste your time with a v8 with no aftermarket support when there is the 1jz and 2jz ?

Unless of course you have very deep pockets, anything is possible with the 1UZ, but it's not cost effective and the 1/2JZ engine though.

I found a heap v8 for 175 and the adapter plate so i thought it would be easy. I have 217000 miles on my engine so i was looking to swap it out before i thought about boosting it. i only have a $2000 budget right now so i need the best bang fro buck. I am trying to get to 350whp now.

Geez-- The SC is sooooo tight, it's almost better just to get another $500 and get a full a/t soarer 1j clip, or get another grand saved and get the full m/t soarer 2.5tt clip with the r154-- MUCH better--
The complete setup is designed to fit the engine bay and work properly and dependably-- WITH tons of aftermarket support--
I'm not sure what the stock twins can do on a 1J but 14psi should get you 350whp with good exhaust if not a little more power on a good fuel tune--
AND-- the motor is built to turbo-- the head gasket is good for 20psi stock, the pistons, rods, etc. are all built for turbo oem-- hard to beat--
It's just plain cheaper as all the factory parts are there save pedals and a few odd parts to swap from a/t to m/t ---
