Check on clubna-t.com there is now an adapter plate for the v160 to fit the 1uz. Hope this little bit helps.

It's not easy on the SC400, I think we have one member currently attempting it or maybe just recently finished, I can't recall his name but if you search "SC400 manual" then you will find his thread.

I know someone that made the adaptor plate and mated the 6 speed to 1UZ motor. He also has a clutch made especally for this combination.

wouldn't just swapping for a 2JZ-GTE with a 6speed be easier?

selling your car and buying a manual SC300 would be the the easiest and most reccomended way to go manual

I agree. I swapped my honda to a 5sp and it honestly wasn't worth the trouble. I supose if you were going from an auto and swappign in another motor AND tranny it wouldn't be that bad.

Aprox. cost of an SC400 manual swap to a V160 supra TT 6 speed would be around $10K....You might as well sell your SC4 and take that money and the $10k you would have spent on that swap and buy a used 1993-1998 TT Supra...You may need to kick in a few more grand to do that....

Another option to serious increase your off the line power would be to -

-Send in and rebuild your stock torque converter for around $400 plus install....(lextreme.com)

- The Precision Industries, Dragon torque converter - $900 plus install (search google)

With the Dragon Torque converter.....
- I can spin both fat rear tires at launch with around 210whp with no problem(no nos)
- I can spin both fat rear tires in 1st and 2nd gear with 300whp (with nos)

This is with my 1992 SC400 and upgraded T.C. and sporting 10.5 rims and tires. I also am running a Supra Torsen LSD and am lowered 2"...All that helps with rear wheel traction on the SC4's.....

If off the line power is what you want try an upgraded torque converter...It changes the car around...

I could really care less about my overall horsepower, the only reason I'm swapping to a 1JZ is so I can have a manual transmission so my SC400 can drift....I've been a drifter for 2 1/2 years and thats all I want to do to my SC is make it drift..I have already been buying parts for it just so it drifts and daily drives, thats the only reason i need to get rid of my auto tranny. Thanks for the help but I've made my final decision on a full 1JZ-GTE with 5speed Manual swap.

Where and how does one drift....Lowered suspension and slicks? Don't quite understand the art of drifting...The only drifting I know is like those go carts and dirt bike races that are on dirt tracks where you basically fishtail out the back end of your ride to circle the track.... I also know Tokyo drifting the game or have seen the ad for the game....

Don't you need power to drift the back end on paved streets?

I remember finding a huge parking lot that was empty waited til it was night and was raining, and just spun the car out every which way possible...Was fun and a long time ago when I was like 18 years old...I did that in my first car which was a old Nova SS.. It was considered a muscle car at the time....
