Default final gear ratio ?

whats the final gear on the sc300 with a manual trans? im a new owner and i have noticed how LONG all 5 of the gears are .... ot be honest for daily driving ... it would jsut be a hell of a lot more fun if the gears were shorter...

what im getting at is eventually i will be installing some kind of lsd be it from the tt supra or ... something aftermarket.... the question is can i get a different final gear? i havent seen any......

thanks

4.08 and I believe it is the "shortest" FD that toyota makes.....and the gears are a little long but thats what you get with "torque" and vs changing final drives you just need to add a turbo and have the power to pull those long gears like they were nothing.

wow! theres no way i thought itd be that high.... so i guess its jsut the transmission then.... i know a turbo would make it alot better and i plan on turboing as soon as i get my suspension right....

also to put a 6 spd getrag in .... do i HAVE to use the driveshaft and the supra lsd?

BTW, the getrag has alot lower gearing then the W58 and the gears will probably be too short if you have much of a turbo. You can keep the same diff, but I think the driveshaft is a different length (I believe....havent done it personally, so Im not 100%). Either way, good luck on the 6spd conversion, its hard to find and expensive when you do.

Really? I thought it was like 3.75 or something like that on the 5speed differential? Ive never heard of it being in the 4's but you could be right. Can someone confirm?
