Default '92 Sc300 Auto, Key Stopped Working

My keys stopped working; won't turn to start car. Checked batteries in car and keys and all are up to charge. Disconnected ground and reconnected to reset, but no change. Sprayed contact cleaner into ignition, but no change. Cleaned corrosion off keys, but no change. Keys will unlock/lock car automatically and activate steering column position when inserted, but will not turn at all. Help!

Default Sc300 Key Problem

Where exactly is the ignition relay under the sc300 dash? Have not checked it yet, but will as soon as I can figure out where it is. Thanks.

Go have a new one made. This happened with mine, key would lock/unlock doors and trunk but wouldn't turn to start. So I had a new one made and it worked fine.

A little confusing, your key will not turn in the ignition lock? It will unlock the doors.
Is it in the lock position, or slightly toward the on position?

Reports of removing the key inadvertently prior to rotating the key to the lock position, jams the tumblers and seizes the lock assembly. This can be a worn key fault.
In the lock position, insure the steering column lock is not binding by moving the steering wheel slightly in both directions. This is the obvious.

Otherwise, you might have a bad ignition lock tumbler set that would need replacing. Then matched to the rest of your locks. Check with local locksmiths in your area, rather than the dealer if possible. This can be an expensive proposition... sorry to say.

Does the starter work? Like when you turn the key, does the engine turn over? If it does and it doesn't start, then check the fuses in the engine bay. There's one for fuel delivery. I know this because some kids played a joke on me

Default Sc300 key problem solved

Thanks for the tip. Moved the steering wheel and key turned. Boy do I feel dumb. Could have done that hours ago, but you got me back on track and I now know my batteries are all good and my ignition is clean, so what the heck.
