Default 1UZ Mods?

Has anyone done much work on their v8 motors?

What sort of things? (supercharge, turbo, cams...bottom end?)
Are there any aftermarket turbo kits available or will I have to make it up from scratch?

Surely someone must have got the itch for more ponies......how'd you russle them up?

I'm thinking of trying to get a UZZ32 (Active) because I've been told that I can possibly get one *crosses fingers* by a car importer....and he knew his stuff.....said the bloke is selling his old active because he got a newer one.....lucky bastard!

But how can you make the v8 go sick?

And will the gearbox hold up to it or are we talking big rebuilds?

And at risk of sounding blonde......where is this search feature that everyone keeps going on about.....I can't see search anywhere!

Active is the ultra luxury of Soarers. They are they heaviest for many reasons.
Actives have all the heavy luxury items like all other Soarers but they have digital touchscreen nav/display. Back up cameras. They have the Active suspension (air bags are heavy and extra parts for steering).

Even if you do alot of engine mods it's still not going to be lightning quick because it is very heavy. If you get an active try not to molest it because they are rare. So don't make it a track car you should be proud of it and keep all the goods that come with the active.

Go to www.lextreme.com. Some guys have already done boosting on their SC400 and LS400. I will be the guy next in line in a very short time. My buddy's 93 SC400 has his Nos squirting at 100-125 shot, a Dragon torque converter, and an exhaust system. He could hang on with the C5 Corvett. I don't mean he won, but side by side. And he also smoked many new M3 and new Mustang GT. My goal is to run a Vortech or Novi supercharger boosting at least 10 psi, maybe 12 psi max on stock engine.

that's all I'm looking for... so NOS, BFI, exhaust, & TC?? That'll get me near the C5 stock??

All internals are all good at that point?

Thx

You could switch out the torque converter and rear diff, that would give you a nice increase in performance while still being able to put it back to stock. Not that you would have to, those 2 mods would not really "ruin" the soarer in the eyes of a collector, but will still have the option if necessary.

Dragon Torque converter and Supra Torsen LSD w/ 3.73 gear

im not 100% on the years it was available on the supra, but it think it was 94-95 and N/A automatic trans only. All others have diff gear ratios. Its actually 4.27 gear that you wnat. Heres the link to the 3.76 (which is good for 98+ SC, but you will want the 4.27) one on l-tunedparts.com, they have it for a GS400, but the GSs rear end is exactly the same as the SC in terms of fitament:
http://www.l-tunedparts.com/product/?id=1754
The local toyota dealer here, Elmhurst Toyota, quoted me $1600 even, so its possible to get it cheaper than carson/ltuned.

this is a bolt on part with no modification required to your SC.

Default Diff

Hello

I was wondering, do you mean that this 3.76 LSD will fit an SC400 , but only the ones from 98+ ? and for pre 98, I'll have to keep looking for a 4.27? I have been looking for the right diff to put into my 1994 SC400 but I've been pulling out my hair trying to track down the right piece...

Thanks!

They will all physically fit, they are interchangable. However, the gear in a 98+ is 3.266 where pre 98 it was 3.92. So if you put a 3.76 in a pre 98 SC you will begoing to a smaller gear and lose accelleration. It will help with traction, but you will definately notice your sc being more sluggish off the line. 3.76 is a great step up from the 3.266 gear of the 98+, but you want to go to a larger rear gear, like 4.27.

Another possiblity is to use a rear end from a W58 trans, such as a sc300 5spd manual, which has a 4.083 gear and find a used torsen diff (internals only, ive seen them for around $300). This would give you LSD and maybe a small performance improvement in accleration, but may not be enough of a gain for the hassle and cost. I dont know if anyone's tried this and am not 100% it will work, but it should.

Peformance wise without spending a FORTUNE here is basically what you can do:
Complete tuneup
Exhaust
BFI
S&S Headers https://www.clublexus.com/forums/sho...hlight=headers
LSD
NOS

Now if you are ready to throw down some BIG bucks check out SC400T's work on his SC4.

Supercharger is possible too but will cost a pretty penny also.

And you could always lighten up your car and shave a few hundred pounds so you can have a better power to weight ratio.
