Default How much did it cost you?

Hey guys im in oklahoma and not many if anyone in this state has the 1jz swap. I was just wondering how much you guys who are like me and not mechanicly sound had to pay for a shop to overhaul your old 2jz and get your 1jz up and running. I also need the names of some web sites or places near to me like texas or something that can get some pretty good engine setups. If you can help me out with this I would greatly appreciate it. Im trying to see how much to expect to pay from a local shop to do the whole swap. Or if you live near oklahoma and have done it yourself with a good outcome how much would you charge me to have you do it. Thanks again guys for hearing me out.

well since a shop is going to do it. plan on paying a pretty penny. i am not sure about your area, but here in cali swaps start off at $3500. it all depends on:
1)do you have the parts?
2)did you get a clip?
3)do you want 5spd or auto?
4)what tranny you're using?
5)how do you want the install done?
etc....

$3500 is cheap and if a shop is doing it expect a raw install (meaning stock everything) including side mount depending on shop (this is without 1jz tranny)

if you buy a clip it will run you about $2300 just for the clip and about 800-1500 labor from the shop (without tranny) once again this is a raw swap, but will save you a little money on the misc. parts.

if you want the ever so great r154 tranny expect to pay more. custom driveshaft if not ripped off is $250. clutch from $300+ assuming you bought the clip you should have the tranny

how you want the install is all up to you. do you want front mount or side mount intercooler? metal or plastic piping? bov or stock? upgrade the turbos or not? and the list can go on.

i don't know if i am missing anything, but feel free to add any more obstacles he may run into. as for me it was $2500 with r154 and front mount but that was back in 2000.

I dont want to get a clip because of the cost im looking into engine sets. Do you no a place that isnt chargeing out the *** for them. I will also be leaving everything stock for a while until i can get some more money saved up. So i guess all i want is for the shop to just prep the motor and drop it in. Oh and im already 5-speed.

I was wondering the same thing but I think I know enough people who can help me if I decide to go this route.

Jhot www.jhotexports.com is the closest I can think of, they're in Georgia. I got my engine set from them for around $1250 shipped with everything. I've got a few more parts to gather up before I start mine. Mine will be auto.

no mechanics, but jhot seems to be the place where people are purchasing their motors. since you are 5spd there is a big argument that the w58 tranny cannot hold. once again it is up to you to decide if you are going to put the extra money toward a good tranny and clutch. you stated you wanted the motor stock. i that case w58 should be good for now, but the labor to pull the tranny out again is worth the r154 swap and clutch the first time. and as far as opting out of getting the clip, just remember little parts will add up.

I got mine from JHOT, but did the install. The W58 will hold all the stock twins will make, no problem.

Are there any shops in Oklahoma or Texas that would do the swap?
